Walk 1 - Wye Valley
Bigsweir Circle - 8 miles
Offa's Dyke Path - Redbrook - 7.5 miles
Accommodation: H/B Hotel or B&B Cottage
Bigsweir Circle:
A
lovely, varied walk including one long, steady incline and about a mile of pretty steep downhill walking, leading onto the River Wye footpath and part of the Offa’s Dyke trail. Walking boots are a must for this one as the downhill stretch includes crossing several small brooks on rough stepping stones when it has been raining!! There are plenty of great photo opportunities on this walk with some superb views across the River Wye and Valley towards
Tintern.
Offa's Dyke Path - Redbrook:
This
is a delightful walk through Highmeadow woods, (a section of the Offa’s Dyke path), which offers fantastic views down onto the River Wye leading into Redbrook and continuing along the River Wye footpath to complete the circle. Redbrook was once a notable industrial area, difficult to imagine when walking in this part of the valley nowadays through the cleft of the Wye gorge cut into the Forest of Dean plateau. The walk is easy going underfoot with one incline at the start and has wonderful scenery and as with yesterday, gives great photo opportunities.
We could easily have filled the page with superlatives for these two fantastic walks but felt the photos were well able to speak for themselves!
